A little while ago I went to agricultural day. There was heaps of excitement going around during most of the day. I have a goat called Dozer because when we got her she was very sleepy. The first class was most obvious pet. I knew that I wasn’t going to win but what I didn’t know is that she would come to me perfectly but then go off, try to jump out, and then go straight to the exit. I only got fourth. Next I had leading (obstacle course) She did it almost perfectly except on one of the steps she started to try and eat it. But I still came first. Then I went into the championship round she did the same again so I only got a reserve champion. Finally the rearing class.  It gets extremely boring. All you have to do is tell them about your goat and all you know about goats. I got first in this class and I also won the championship. My friend’s goat actually had an udder that put out milk so his goat got a lot of attention at the end. Today we had a great time at agricultural day. We even got a day off school.

M.O.A.B stands for massive ordnance air blast. This is a bomb that can flatten an area the size of 6 Superbowl stadiums. This is the biggest conventional bomb in the world. It Requires a C130 (Hercules) plane to drop the bomb and each plane can only hold one bomb. This would be very destructive if it got in to the wrong hands. I think that they need to stop building more powerful than ever before. This is going to be very bad if it gets in to the wrong hands.

I’ve had a completely different view of the world”s airport security ever since my gran (accidentally) got a butter knife through airport security accidentally and when she got out of the airport security she asked if anybody wanted some cheese on crackers. Then she got her butter knife out and started to cut the cheese. Then she noticed she  got a butter knife through the airport security. A butter knife it not very dangerous but she has also (accidentally) got a letter open through too.

These are just examples of the knives that gran had.

At school we have been doing inquiry work on power. We didn’t have specific instructions on which type of power so I did it on nuclear power. My essential question was: Is nuclear power the answer to our energy needs?

I think popularity is more expensive because you’ve got to have the latest things. Also aloneness has less peer pressure so they only get what you need. Popularity also costs you your individuality and freedom.

On the 25th of August our hockey team played our last game before the semifinal. Our coach said that we should win by at least 6. So we started our usual warm up before we started playing. We won a game against them with only nine players last time but we only won 3 - nil. Then the bell rang so we went onto the field. I was left wing in this game. About 1 minute into the game we had already scored a goal. Another 5 - 7 minutes later another goal was scored from the top of the circle. This continued till half time. Our coach moved some of our positions around just before the second half started. We didn’t score a goal for another 10 minutes  because we were still settling in to our new positions. Once we were settled in we started to score even more goals. But still while we were settling in they scored a goal so it was now 6 - 1 to us. This hockey game wasn’t very hard because we won 12 or 13 - 1. I scored the last goal for our team and it was from the very top of the circle and was going through the air. It was our biggest win ever.

Almost every one has been or heard of a zoological garden, zoological park, or zoo. A zoo is a facility in which animals are confined within enclosures and displayed to the public, and in which they may also be bred. The first one ever built was quite a surprise to the public in 1828. When the first ever zoo was unveiled. But are they necessary? Do we really need them? are they almost just jails, or sanctuaries for them? They make money for caging up animals, is this right or wrong? To me this depends on the type of animal and where it came from.

Firstly bringing an animal in from the wild is taking it from its natural habitat, meaning it can’t mate naturally and learn and evolve with nature, instead of evolving to have food every day being put in front of them. Also having someone to mate with always there beside them. They can’t make any choices for themselves. If an animal is hurt and it won’t survive in the wild I think it is fine to bring it in to a zoo until it gets better if it is endangered or almost endangered. Most modern zoos in Europe and North America display wild animals primarily for the conservation of endangered species and for educational and research purposes anyway, and secondarily for the entertainment of visitors.

However there are zoos that are commonly called wildlife parks that have heaps more room for the animals to play in and there are usually more other animals to mate with. Also the viewers can some times get a better view by being able to go into the exhibit. But this only happens when it is a calm animal that they are going to look at. These animals still make money for the wild life park but still don’t make as much as zoos. These wildlife parks also have more endangered species in their parks and they don’t evolve to feeding as badly because they will usually try to change food and change the hiding spot each day so they don’t get used to having it in one spot everyday.

On the other hand zoos can get a lot of criticism from the public. If they treat their animals badly or put them in cages that are to small, they will get loads of criticism. The most common reason why they don’t have a big enough cage is because that the company that owns the zoo/wildlife park might not have enough money to afford a big enough cage for their animal. But I think that if that is the reason. Sell the animals. They’ll get some money back and they could start a new business with that money. This would save the animals going through all the pain and misery. Also they can treat their animals badly meaning that the animals can get hurt costing them even more money.

Finally conservation is a very important subject to do with zoos and wildlife parks. The endangered species a worth more and bring in more tourists that want to see rare breeds. But can be harder to look after and harder to find a mate for. PETA quotes a curator from the Smithsonian National Zoological Park in Washington, D.C., who followed 700 visitors over the course of five summers and concluded that “It didn’t matter what was on display … people [were] treating the exhibits like wallpaper … officials should stop kidding themselves about the tremendous educational value of showing an animal behind a glass wall.” I think that zoos would easily rather an easy to after animal than a endangered species because they are worth a lot more and if they die that’s a lot of money that they lose. But I think a bit differently about wildlife parks because they have it harder from the start anyway.
In conclusion I think that zoos should be more concerned about endangered animals because they will bring in some more tourists and environmentalists. Also if their standard of cages are low or their animals are severely damaged because of the owner that the animal should be taken off them. If the animals they get are from the wild are not endangered or hurt they should be brought back the wild immediately. Now I think that they should have rules about which animals you’re allowed to have depending on the species, the size of their land to make sure they have enough land for the animal and if it is hurt or seriously injured.
